Electrician Job Description

Responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, or installing a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, power plants, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, HVAC units, conduit systems, or other telecommunications transmission equipment; diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment. This job operates in both warehouse and remote (outside) environments.

Job duties

  • Ability to perform a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, fault isolation, maintenance, and repair of wiring and/or connectors, equipment for: Generation, distribution, or utilization of telecommunications systems electrical power.
  • Perform final functional and operational testing of the electrical systems.
  • Interpret technical data such as blueprints, wiring diagrams, and specifications to install and troubleshoot wiring installations.
  • Checks, tests, and troubleshoots electrical systems for conformance to specifications and performs repair, removal, and reinstallation of wiring as necessary.
  • Install wire or complicated electrical systems to fixtures and accessories such as: transformers, instrument panels, and power plants.
  • May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedure.
  • Use of appropriate PPE when in the work environment.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement activities in production methods, equipment performance, and team effectiveness.
  • Install and adjust equipment replacement parts to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain and inspect equipment including electrical and electronic components, batteries, and test equipment, electronic module test consoles, and generator power distribution equipment.
  • Ability to understand AC and DC power.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting procedures and display critical thinking processes and deductive reasoning.
  • Able to demonstrate proficiency in schematic interpretation and electronics test equipment.
  • Present a courteous and professional demeanor when dealing with customers and co-workers.
  • Comply with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility, and job assignment.
  • Ensure that company safety policies and OSHA standards are always followed.
  • Job Completion Reports (JCR) to be submitted to the Admin Department when job is done.
  • Provide updates of ongoing jobs to Supervisor and Admin Department as needed.
  • Ability to work any shift as assigned, as needed.
  • Available for Emergency Response when needed.
  • Ability to cross train on other assignments in the telecommunication field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum qualifications

 

  • ET Card Certification
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical systems troubleshooting fabrication, installation, and maintenance
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must pass a drug test

Physical requirements

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stand (sometimes for extended periods); walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and lift up to 35 pounds. The team member may, at times, sit, bend, stoop, squat, reach overhead, or crawl (may be in confined spaces). The crew member is expected to perform repetitive tasks using their hands and have the ability to climb ladders.
