HVAC Job Description

Responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and installing HVAC equipment such as compressors, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, HVAC units, and conduit systems; locating and diagnosing trouble in the HVAC system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment. Responsible for repairs on air quality systems from installation to end-of-life by performing maintenance, warranty, and emergency repairs. This job operates in both warehouse and remote (outside) environments.

 

Job duties

 

  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment.
  • Identifying maintenance risks on equipment.
  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
  • Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
  • Providing technical direction and on-the-job training.
  • Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
  • Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Complying with service standards, work instructions and customers’ requirements.
  • Operates, clean and perform preventative maintenance/repairs.
  • Electrical assembly and wire installation.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
  • Use of appropriate PPE when in the work environment.
  • Job Completion Reports (JCR) to be submitted to the Admin Department when job is done.
  • Provide updates of ongoing jobs to Superintendent and Admin Department as needed.
  • Ability to work any shift as assigned, as needed.
  • Availability for Emergency Response as needed.
  • Ensure that company safety policies and OSHA standards are always followed.
  • Ability to cross train on other assignments in the telecommunication field.

 

Minimum qualifications

 

  • EPA Certification
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • 2+ years’ experience as an HVAC technician
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must pass a drug test

Physical requirements:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stand (sometimes for extended periods); walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and lift up to 40 lbs. The team member may, at times, sit, bend, stoop, squat, reach overhead, or crawl (may be in confined spaces). The team member is expected to perform repetitive tasks using their hands and have the ability to climb ladders.
